Franklin's career may be over

by

Green Bay Packers Head Coach Mike McCarthy announced Thursday that second year running back Johnathan Franklin won't return to the team and his career is in jeopardy after suffering a neck injury durinig his rookie season.  The 4th round pick from UCLA was injured returning a kickoff against the Minnesota Vikings in Week 11.   He was unable to participate in any of the team's off-season workouts and the latest diagnosis by the medical staff led the team to inform Franklin of the risk of permanent damage if he continued playing.   He rushed for 107 yards as a rookie, including a 101 yard effort against the Cincinnati Bengals.   Via Twitter, Franklin thanked the team and fans for support.
