WEST BEND, Wis. (WSAU) -- When the children want to go visit grandma, they need to take mom or dad with them.
A 9-year-old driver and a 4-year-old passenger drove a car about four miles Saturday evening. That generated several 9-1-1 calls to the Washington County Sheriff’s Department. The kids went west on Highway 33 and then south on 144. Witnesses and other drivers were able to get the kids to stop, and thats when the adults walked up and pulled the keys from the ignition.
The children had wandered from home and were trying to get to grandmas house. They took the car from a boat dealer’s parking lot.
West Bend police and Wisconsin State Patrol assisted, along with Washington County Social Services. The sheriff’s department news release says they are not filing any charges, there were no injuries, and there was no property damage. Follow up investigations are still ongoing.
