Lohse looking for consistency

(WNFL)- Kyle Lohse has had up-and-down performances in his last three starts. And if he follows the pattern, Lohse is due for a fabulous outing tonight, when the Milwaukee Brewers close out their series against the Mets in New York. On May 26th, the veteran right-hander gave up four runs in six-and-two-thirds innings. His next time out, June first, Lohse tossed a three-hit shutout against the Chicago Cubs. Then in his last start, he got shelled for eight runs in five-plus innings at Pittsburgh last Friday night. That ended his personal seven-game winning streak. Lohse is 7-and-2 overall, with an ERA of just over 3.25. The Mets will put up left-hander Jonathan Niese against the Crew this evening. He's 3-and-3 with an ERA of just over 2.66. Niese has had no-decisions in his last three starts, even though he gave up just two runs in each appearance. With their two-run victory last night, Milwaukee has regained a five-game edge over second-place Saint Louis in the National League Central Division. The Mets remain fourth in the East, six-and-a-half in back of first-place Washington.
