New flood warnings on Kickapoo River after heavy weekend rain

VIOLA, WI (WTAQ) - Heavy rains in southwest Wisconsin have created new flood warnings on the Kickapoo River.

That's after much of the region has had anywhere from 1.8 inches of rain to 3.4 inches since Sunday.

The river did not reach its flood stage at any of the recording stations as of early Monday morning. The Kickapoo at Viola is due to rise above its flood stage around mid-day Monday. Crests are expected Tuesday morning at Readstown, and Wednesday night at Gays Mills.

The National Weather Service now says Hudson had the most rain in the state since Sunday morning -- 3.75 inches. New Holstein had the most in eastern areas, at 3.25 inches.

Over 130 We Energies' electric customers were still without power as of mid-morning. That was after more than 2,000 customers were without electricity in southeast Wisconsin Sunday evening.

The Wisconsin Public Service utility reported new outages Monday morning -- around 90 customers out near Waupaca, where another wave of thunderstorms cruised from the west.

Wisconsin Power and Light had 65 customers out in rural Dane County.

In Lafayette County, two farms had damages from straight line winds. Officials said a shed with equipment was damaged -- and another farm had roofs blown off two sheds and a tree blown on top of a car.

More storms are predicted in most of Wisconsin Monday and Monday night.
