GBPD get help tracking down three vehicle theft suspects

GREEN BAY, WI (WTAQ) - Three people are facing multiple theft charges for allegedly stealing from over 40 vehicles in Green Bay's Astor neighborhood this past weekend.

According to police, the break-ins were reported in the area from E. Mason St. to Grignon St. and from S. Webster Ave. to the East River.

"The suspects stated during their interview that they just went through the neighborhood looking for unlocked vehicles," says Police Lt. Jeff Brester. "They would just start pulling car doors until they found a door that was open, and then they would go through the vehicle to see if they could steal anything."

Police arrested three people Sunday and Monday: 18-year-old Joseph Ray; 17-year-old Cameron Kellner; and 18-year-old Keng Yang. Brester says they all live close to the area of Green Bay where these break-ins took place.

There were some key pieces of evidence that helped catch these criminals, according to Brester. The security camera at Rachel Dean's home on S. Irwin Ave helped out, as did another woman's iPhone.

"She used her app 'Where's my iPhone' and it was able to give her a location of where her phone was," says Lt. Brester. "Officers went to that residence, ultimately recover the phone and he was arrested for stealing it."

That arrest and subsequent interviews led police to the other two suspects.

However out of the more than 40 vehicles broken into, just a dozen victims have come forward so far. People who believe something may be missing from their car can call Green Bay Police at (920) 448-3200.
