Heat advisories continue for parts of northwest Wisconsin

LA CROSSE, WI (WTAQ) - The heat index rose above 90 during the noon hour near La Crosse, but most parts of Wisconsin had a combined temperature and humidity effect in the 80's.

Superior, the northernmost Wisconsin city of over 10,000 residents, was the state's actual hot spot at 1 p.m. with 87 degrees.

Much of the Badger State was in the 80's, with a few spots in the 70's close to Lake Michigan.

Thunderstorms were expected to move into Wisconsin Monday afternoon and evening. As of 1 p.m., there were no severe weather watches or warnings anywhere in the state.

Heat advisories were issued through Monday night for Burnett, Pierce, Polk, and St. Croix counties in northwest areas close to the St. Croix River.

Wisconsin Emergency Management urges those folks to drink plenty of water, stay in air conditioned surroundings, check on isolated relatives and neighbors, and never leave people or pets in hot parked cars.

Rainy and cooler weather is predicted for Tuesday, except in southern Wisconsin where highs close to 90 were forecast.
