Mississippi River levels beginning to fall along Wisconsin's western border

PRESCOTT, WI (WTAQ) - The Mississippi River is still more than two feet over its banks on much of Wisconsin's western border.

However, the water levels are falling in many places.

By Saturday, the Mississippi is expected to drop below its flood stage near Prescott -- and at other places sometime next week. Moderate flood damage is expected at Prairie du Chien, La Crosse, Winona, and Wabasha.

Minor flooding is predicted elsewhere.

Scattered rain showers are in the forecast for much of Wisconsin Wednesday afternoon. But it's supposed to clear up Wednesday night, just in time for the Fourth of July holiday.

After that, our next chance of rain is on Saturday.
