President Obama touts job training during Waukesha visit

WAUKESHA, WI (WTAQ) - President Obama said in Waukesha Thursday that not everyone needs a college degree for a great career -- as long as they get the proper training.

The Democrat Obama said he ordered Vice President Joe Biden to lead a thorough review of federal job training programs -- and make sure they fit the needs of today's employers.

The president toured the GE gas engines plant in Waukesha and spoke to its employees and managers.

As expected, he hammered home the main points from his State of the Union address on Tuesday -- a proposed $10.10 an hour minimum wage, and the need to pay women as much as men for similar jobs.

Obama also reiterated his intentions to go around Congress if they don't act on his agenda -- which he called "restoring opportunity to every single person."

The president also said he wanted to see how communities throughout the country deal with job training -- and he said Biden would check that out as well.
