Hundreds of government workers get 1% pay raises

MADISON, WI (WTAQ) - About 2,400 state government workers were given one-percent pay raises Friday.

Governor Scott Walker signed one-year contracts with five smaller employee unions. The raises will be retroactive to June 30th.

They’ll be the same as the pay hikes given to non-union state workers back in July.

Most larger state unions decided not to re-certify after the Act 10 bargaining limits were adopted in 2011. The Legislature recently approved the contracts – which cover state classified attorneys, economists, research analysts, nurses, and building and trade workers.
