WEST BEND, WI (WTAQ) - Prosecutors now say that West Bend native Andrew Boldt was both stabbed and shot on Tuesday in a classroom at Purdue University in West Lafayette Indiana.
Fellow student Cody Cousins was charged Thursday with murder. He was due in court Thursday afternoon.
Prosecutors said a handgun and a knife were both found near the murder scene, along with spent shell casings.
The 21-year-old Boldt was killed when working as a teaching assistant in an engineering class. Police said they found the 23-year-old Cousins sitting outside the electrical engineering building where the incident took place. Officials said he had blood on both his hands and clothes.
Prosecutors did not disclose a motive. Police have said that Cousins targeted Boldt, have not said why.
Students at Boldt's former high school, Milwaukee Marquette, are planning to attend a Mass Thursday afternoon to pray for him and his family.
His funeral will be held next Tuesday. Visitations are from 3 p.m. until 6:30 p.m. Tuesday at the family's church, St. Frances Cabrini in West Bend. The funeral Mass will begin at 7 p.m. Tuesday.
The family has asked that reporters not attend either function, as they continue to ask the public for privacy.
