MADISON, WI (WTAQ) - Governor Scott Walker announced the hiring of Ray Cross as the next president of the University of Wisconsin System Thursday.
Cross has served as chancellor of UW Extension, the system's outreach division, and UW Colleges, all the system's two-year colleges, since 2011.
"He has a unique combination of experience and drive for innovation, which were instrumental as we worked together on the launch of the new UW Flex Option," Governor Walker said in a statement. "Ray’s leadership and collaboration skills will help improve the excellence of higher education in Wisconsin.”
Cross replaces Kevin Reilly, who stepped down last month.
