Schools closing Monday and Tuesday due to dangerous cold weather

GREEN BAY, WI (WTAQ) - The extreme cold weather forecast Monday and Tuesday has led many school districts across the region to cancel classes.

The Green Bay Area Public School District and private schools will be closed.

Severe cold weather is also leading to the cancellation of classes in all Appleton Area district schools. The Oshkosh Area School District will also close all schools Monday and Tuesday.

This also means that there will be no practices, games, or school events.

You can view a full list of cancellations here.

FOX 11 reports that highs on Monday are forecast to only reach -12. Lows will be near -20 with wind chills approaching -45 or -50 at times. Tuesday we'll warm up, relatively speaking, to a high near -3 with west winds at 10 to 20 mph, wind chills will be between -35 and -45.

Frostbite can occur on unprotected skin in 10 minutes or less in these conditions.
