Knights have opportunity knocking at home


The St. Norbert Green Knights mens and womens basketball team will both be hosting the Midwest Conference Tournament this weekend with the winner punching a ticket to the NCAA Division III National Tournament.

The men wrapped up home court advantage nearly two weeks ago and on Saturday, set MWC history by becomming the first team to go through a regular season undefeated.  The Knights ripped Illinois College 90-63 at the Schuldes Sports Center.  Five players scored in double figures as St. Norbert completed a perfect 18-0 conference season.  The Knights have won a school record 20 consecutive games and hit the post-season ranked 5th in Division 3 at 22-1.   St. Norbert will meet Carroll College in the semifinals Friday night at 6:00 PM.   Grinnell will play Ripon in the other semifinal Friday afternoon at 1:30 PM.

The Womens team defeted Illinois College in a double overtime thriller Saturday, 75-72 to win a record 12th Midwest Conference regular season title.  The Green Knights finished 19-4 overall and 16-2 in MWC play.   They will face Carroll College in the MWC semifinal, also at the Schuldes Sports Center Friday night at 8:00 PM.   The other semifnal features Cornell against Monmouth Friday afternoon at 3:30 PM.

Championshp games will be Saturday at Schuldes at 3:00 PM and 6:00 PM.
