Assembly to vote on bill ending minimum wage mandates

MADISON, Wis. (WSAU) -- Wisconsin’s State Assembly is expected to vote Thursday on a bill ending minimum wage mandates for local government workers and for contractors paid with state or federal dollars.

Right now, those are the only two exceptions to a Wisconsin law prohibiting local governments from creating and enforcing living wage ordinances. This bill, if passed into law, would nullify local minimum wage ordinances passed by Madison, Dane County, and Milwaukee County.

Additional language in the bill would also end local residency requirements for contractors paid with federal or state tax dollars.
