The Green Bay Phoenix are closing in on their first regular season Horizon League title since 1996 after beating second place Cleveland State in Cleveland Saturday 68-54. Alec Brown and Kiefer Sykes each scored 18 points, Greg Mays added 15 for Green Bay (21-5, 10-2). The win pushes the Phoenix two games in front of the Vikings with three to play and because they swept Cleveland State in the regular season, Green Bay can clinch the title with a victory over Valparaiso in it's home finale Thursday night at the Resch Center.
Marquette improved to 7-5 in the Big East, 15-10 overall with an 81-72 victory over Xavier Saturday. Jake Thomas led the Golden Eagles with 18.
On Sunday, the 21st ranked Wisconsin Badgers beat number 18 Michigan in Ann Arbor 75-62 behind 25 points and 11 rebounds from center Frank Kaminsky. Sam Dekker added 15 points and 9 boards for the Badgers who grabbed control in the first half, held off a Wolverine rally to within three in the secon half and pulled away at the finish. The Badgers are now 21-5, 8-5 in Big Ten play, two games behind Michigan and Michigan State.
In Division 3, 6th ranked St. Norbert made it 18 straight wins before a record crowd at the Schuldes Sports Center Saturday, beating Grinnell 113-88. Kam Cerroni led the Green Knights with 27 as they moved to 20-1 on the season and a perfect 16-0 in the Midwest Conference.
