FOND DU LAC, WI (WTAQ) - A Fond du Lac man has been charged with stealing money from cash boxes after sporting events at Oakfield Jr./Sr. High School.
In court Thursday, Mark E. Hoffman was charged with two counts of burglary and misdemeanor theft.
FOX 11 reports that Oakland Police Chief Renee Schuster says Hoffman was caught robbing a cash box around 10:30 p.m. Tuesday. Schuster says Hoffman took nearly $1,000 from cash boxes at concession stands.
According to the criminal complaint, a camera was set up inside the school's vault last Friday by Oakfield Principal Bradley Witt after money was missing on several occasions.
Hoffman, who's a custodian at Oakfield, was seen on video entering the vault around 10:17 p.m. that night. According to the complaint, Hoffman was wearing a sweatshirt that covered his head and face. He's seen taking money from the school's "Pot of Gold" raffle, along with a cash register containing money from concession sales.
Hoffman was also caught in the act on Tuesday.
Schuster says that Hoffman admitted to stealing the cash over the last month from 10 sporting events at the school for personal reasons.
