MADISON, Wis. (WSAU) -- State ag officials are offering dairy processors a grant to help improve their businesses.
It's the Grow Wisconsin Dairy 30x20 Initiative and Ag business development supervisor Mike Bandli says the grants are there to help improve Wisconsin's dairy economy. "Whether we're looking at the producer grants or the processor grants, the whole idea is to aid the industry and look at improving efficiency, improving competitive advantage and making these business viable well into the future."
The grants are for up to $50,000 and can help pay for improving production or profitability in your business. "Sometimes these facilities are faced with challenges, faced with some problems that they want to address but maybe they just need to get a little bit of outside expertise to help them find solutions to the things that they're considering." Bandli says producers will have to contribute 20 percent of the grant in matching funds.
Businesses looking to apply for the grant should be aiming for a proposal that encourages collaboration or boosts insights in the whole dairy community in Wisconsin. Bandli says the grants application is online and easy to fill out. "They put together their project plan, and submit it to us for the dairy processor grants. that needs to be in by Friday February 21, so there's not a lot of time."
The application is available at GrowWisconsinDairy.wi.gov. For more information, call 855-WI DAIRY (855-943-2479).
