Man charged in sexual assault after placing babysitting ad

GREEN BAY, WI (WTAQ) - A man is facing charges for allegedly sexually assaulting a woman answering a Craigslist ad for a babysitter.

The Brown County Sheriff's Department said that a 20-year-old female saw an ad on the website for a part-time babysitter. She responded to the ad via email and was asked to meet for an interview at an apartment complex on Memorial Drive in Howard.

When she arrived, she was met by 24-year-old Tyler Olson who let her inside. Investigators then say Olson pulled out a knife and sexually assaulted her.

After the sexual assault took place, Olson kept threatening the woman with the knife. He forced her to drive him, in her vehicle, to an unknown location. While driving on southbound Interstate 43, the vehicle ran out of gas just north of Mason Street.

Around 1 a.m., a Green Bay police officer found the victim and Olson walking down the off-ramp near Mason Street. The victim asked the officer for help. Olson then tried to get away, but police chased him down.

Tyler Olson appeared in Brown County court Friday afternoon, where he was charged with first-degree sexual assault and kidnapping/false imprisonment.
