GOOD THUNDER, Minn. (WSAU) -- A virus has killed more than 7,000 pigs at a facility in Minnesota and it could make its way to Wisconsin soon.

The Porcine Epidemic Virus often affects newborn piglets the most and it’s always fatal. The virus cost the facility near Good Thunder, Minnesota about $500,000 in damages that isn’t covered by insurance.

Minnesota farmers have recommended taking precautions when visiting other farms by disinfecting footwear and wearing clean clothes to prevent the spread.
