MENASHA, WI (WTAQ) - A standoff in the city of Menasha overnight ends with one man in police custody.
The stand off began just after Midnight in the area of Tayco and Broad streets.
Cops say they got a report of a 40-year-old man who was going to commit suicide. Officers tried to contact the man several times, but he refused to leave the home.
Authorities say told them his guns were loaded and he was ready to fight to the death.
The Menasha Police Department called in the Winnebago County SWAT team to help. Before SWAT officers arrived, the man came out of his house with two handguns.
Officers ordered him to drop the weapons. He did and was taken into custody without incident after the two-hour standoff.
He is currently being evaluated at a hospital.
