MADISON, WI (WTAQ) - Add the Wisconsin Department of Transportation to the list of those frustrated that marketers are selling forms that motorists can get for free.
Kristina Boardman, deputy administrator of the Division of Motor Vehicles, says private firms are putting up Web sites that look official, but misrepresent the DMV. And while they're not illegal, Boardman says residents could get frustrated with the information they're providing -- or fees they might have to pay.
The division's official Web site is WisconsinDMV.Gov -- and as long as there's a ".Gov" at the end, you can be assured that you're getting forms right from the source, at no extra cost.
Boardman also said the DMV will never mail anything that offers things like recall notices or extended vehicle warranties. Those come from the automakers themselves.
