Woman escapes sexual assault in Clintonville, police looking for suspect

CLINTONVILLE, Wis. (WSAU) -- Authorities are searching for a man that tried to sexually assault a woman near Clintonville Monday night.

The incident happened at about 9:30 p.m. Waupaca County Sheriff’s Office investigators say a man in a pickup truck stopped along County Highway O to offer an 18-year-old woman a ride.

She was uneasy about the offer, but accepted the ride. The driver then turned the truck around and headed west, frightening the woman. The man then made advances towards her and tore some of her clothing.

Deputies say the woman was able to kick and bite the man to get free, and fled into a nearby cornfield. From there, she walked back to the house she had left earlier and contacted police.

Authorities say the woman described her alleged attacker as a white man in his late 30s to early 40s, weighing about 300 pounds, balding with a dark mustache. The man also has an accent or a speech problem.

His truck is described as an early 2000 model, four-door pickup. It’s black or dark blue with a topper and a tan interior. Rosary beads with a cross hang from the rearview mirror. There is a white “Calvin” decal on the cab.

Waupaca County sheriff’s officials say the woman had some minor injuries, but is doing okay.

Authorities say they have no reason at this point to doubt her story.

Anyone with information is asked to contact the sheriff’s office at (715) 258-4466.
