Wily Peralta became the first 14 game winner in the major leagues as the Milwaukee Brewers beat the San Francisco Giants 3-1 in the rubber game of their series at Miller Park Thursday afternoon. Peralta pitched six and two thirds innings, allowing a run on 7 hits with a career high 9 strikeouts to improve to 14-6 on the season. Francisco Rodriguez closed it out for his 34th save. Ryan Braun gave Peralta an early lead with an RBI double in the first inning, the third consecutive hit against Giants starter Jake Peavy. Khris Davis also drove in a run with a double. It was the first series win for the Brewers since late June and it keeps them atop the NL Central by one game over St. Louis. The Brewers (63-52) welcome the NL West leading Los Angeles Dodgers for a weekend, three game series. Kyle Lohse will face Josh Beckett in the series opener Friday night. The Brewers announced Mike Fiers will start game two of the series Saturday night in place of Matt Garza who is on the disabled list with an oblique strain.
