APPLETON, WI (WTAQ) - Outagamie County Executive Tom Nelson has named former emergency management director Christina Muller as the new interim director.
Muller served as Outagamie County Emergency Management Director from September 2006 until October 2011.
Her appointment comes just two days after Julie Loeffelholz was fired. Nelson has not explained what led up to Loeffelholz's firing.
Last August, tornado sirens failed to sound during a storm where six tornadoes tore through the county causing over $30 million in damage.
In an interview with WTAQ on Tuesday, Nelson called the emergency management director the toughest position in the county to fill.
