MADISON, WI (WTAQ) - Governor Scott Walker has made Time Magazine's list of the 100 most influential people in the world.
The Republican Walker said Thursday he's "humbled" by the honor.
The 100 are profiled on Time's Web site in no particular order. They include various leaders, entertainers, athletes, and religious icons.
New Jersey Governor Chris Christie -- who, like Walker, is a possible Republican presidential hopeful for 2016 -- wrote a flattering profile of the Wisconsin governor. Christie said Walker brought "fairness to the taxpayers through common sense reform" -- while it also brought him "scorn from the special interests and a recall election."
Christie was referring to Walker's landmark Act 10, which virtually eliminated collective bargaining for most public union employees.
The profile's headline calls Walker "the Heartland's Republican hopeful." Walker is pictured sitting on a Harley-Davidson motorcycle in a business suit in front of the State Capitol. He's the only Wisconsinite on Time's list.
It came at a great time for Walker, as he began his 2014 re-election campaign in earnest last week.
Former Marquette guard Dwayne Wade wrote the profile for tennis "titan" Serena Williams.
