Death penalty on the table for three men charged with drug-related homicide

MILWAUKEE (WTAQ) - Federal prosecutors in Milwaukee are seeking the death penalty against three men charged with homicide, as part of a drug ring that involved money laundering.

27 people have been indicted. All but six were in custody as of Wednesday.

Prosecutors said 40-year-old Kevin Arms of Pewaukee was the ring leader -- and several of his relatives were accused of using drug money to buy expensive homes, vehicles, boats, and watches.

Officials said the drug ring involved the sales of over 650 pounds of cocaine in southeast Wisconsin the past few years -- along with crack and heroin. The charges against Kevin Arms include gun homicide.

37-year-old John Bailey and 32-year-old Phillip Moffett face the same homicide charges with the possible death penalty.

The killing reportedly took place in November of 2008.

Agents seized numerous assets from those arrested including a pair of Cadillac Escades, two Harley-Davidson motorcycles, 1970's muscle cars, a fishing boat, money from two companies, and an earlier judgment for $3 million.
