UNDATED (Wisconsin Radio Network) – State Senate Democrats are demanding a special session of the Legislature to approve upgrades at state veterans home at King. During a Tuesday press conference Democrats said an audit could take months. Senate Minority Leader Jennifer Shilling said residents at the facility need help sooner rather than later.
“With the health and the safety of these veterans in danger, we can’t wait any longer,” Shilling said.
Senator Jon Erpenbach said $18.5-million could be used to upgrade fire alarms and the electrical system, new flooring and room renovations, and connecting King to municipal water The legislature’s audit committee is scheduled to consider an audit of King Wednesday.
