MADISON, WI (WTAQ) - Unemployment is up from the month before, and down from a year ago in all 12 of Wisconsin's metro areas.

That's what state workforce development officials said Wednesday.

The actual, unadjusted jobless figures ranged from 8.7 percent in Racine, to 4.9 percent in Madison. The Milwaukee Metro was at 7.2 percent -- up from January final rate of 6.9 percent, and lower than the 8 percent figure in February of 2013.

Statewide, the unadjusted unemployment rate jumped three-tenths of a point between January and February to 7 percent.

The seasonally-adjusted figure -- the one that gets the most publicity -- is down one-tenth of a point from the month before to a preliminary 6.1 percent.

The actual jobless rate rose in all but three of the state's 72 counties. Only Iron County had a decrease. Bayfield and Florence counties had no change.
