Braves walk off Crew

by

The Milwaukee Brewers may lost another game but they may also have found a pitcher for their rotation next year.  The Atlanta Braves defeated the Brewers 3-2 at Turner Field Tuesday night as Andrelton Simmons flared a two out, walk off single in the bottom of the ninth off Donovan Hand.  The Brewers got a run scoring single from Jonathan Lucroy and a solo home run from Jeff Bianchi, his first of the year. The real story however, was starter Tyler Thornburg.  Pitching in his hometown, Thornburg went a season long seven innings, allowing two runs on seven hits and striking out a career high eight batters.  Thornburg didn't get the deicision in his final start but wound up 3-1 with an ERA of 2.03 in seven starts with the Brewers since his call up from Nashville where he struggled mightily with an 0-9 record and ERA at nearly six runs a game.  The Brewers (70-87) wrap up the series in Atlanta before closing out the schedule with a four game set in New York against the Mets.  Kyle Lohse and Paul Mahalom are the scheduled pitchers.  Pre-Game coverage begins at 5:35 PM on WTAQ.
