Robocalls campaigning against Duffy on Obamacare defunding, Office says Dems claims false

WASHINGTON, D.C. (WSAU) - If you pick up the phone, and hear campaign-style robocalls denouncing your Congressman’s position on defunding Obamacare, be cautious. People across the 7th Congressional District are receiving robocalls today from the Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee claiming that Republican Sean Duffy urged leadership to trigger a government shutdown rather than fund the implementation of the Affordable Care Act, also known as Obamacare.

The Democrats claim Duffy signed a letter by Republican Mark Meadows of North Carolina that calls for, "defunding Obamacare in any relevant appropriations bill, and any continuing resolutions."  Without a budget, it's the continuing resolution that will allow the rest of government to operate as usual.

Duffy’s office says the 7th District Congressman never signed that letter by Meadows, and still believes stopping Obamacare is important but the government should remain open as usual. Duffy says, “I believe strongly that Obamacare needs to be defunded and replaced with healthcare reforms that will actually work for the American people. I have supported many measures, including introducing my own legislation, that will do just that. However, I do not believe that forcing a government shutdown is the right tactic."

Duffy is a cosponsor of a bill written by Congressman Tom Graves.   HR 2682 would defund Obamacare but not shut down the government.
