The Brewers and Cubs opened their final series of the season against each other Monday night with the National League Central Division basement on the line. The Brewers got strong pitching from Wily Peralta and a hefty bat from Caleb Gindl in posting a 6-1 victory at Miller Park. The victory puts Milwaukee above Chicago by three and a half games with 13 left to play. Peralta worked six innings, allowing just one, unearned run and striking out six in running his record to 10-15. Gindl went three for four with a run scoring triple in the 4th inning and a two run homer in the 7th. Jean Segura, Martin Maldanado and Yuniesky Betancourt also drove in runs in a sloppily played game. The Cubs committed three errors while the Brewers were charged with two. Milwaukee has won four of their last five to reach 66-83 on the season. The Brewers will send Marco Estrada against Jeff Samardzija in game two of the series Tuesday night.
