ALLOUEZ, WI (WTAQ) - State fire investigators have released their final report on a fire that destroyed a 74-unit apartment complex in Allouez back in May.
The state fire marshal has determined the cause of fire at the Hilltop Place Apartments as undetermined.
The fire started in the basement near a swimming pool storage and supply room.
“As far as why it took so long, a lot of legalities and hold-ups, they have no notify everyone that had interest in the building before we could proceed” Green Bay Metro Fire Lt. Nick Craig.
Craig says the process involved many insurance companies.
Craig says Green Bay Metro Fire will release their report Tuesday.
Last month, crews went back to the site to look at an area of the building to try and determine the cause of the fire.
“We went back with insurance investigators, some mechanical and electrical engineers that the insurance company had hired, to re-examine parts of the basement where we believed the fire started,” Craig said.
The fire displaced more than a 100 people. Craig says a small number of them had renter’s insurance.
The apartment building stretched nearly two blocks and is currently being demolished.
