At the start of the season, the Milwaukee Brewers rotation was having problems while the bullpen ranked among the five best in baseball. Down the stretch, it's just the opposite. For the second straight game at Busch Stadium in St. Louis, a Brewers starter took a no hitter into the 6th inning, only to have the bullpen surrender the lead and the game. Wednesday night, Marco Estrada kept the Cardinal bats quiet until the sixth when he gave up a run. After getting in trouble in the 7th, Estrada gave way to Brandon Kintzler who finished the inning. With the score tied at 1 in the 8th, Kintzler allowed a couple of baserunners and Michael Gonzalez relieved only to exacerbate the situation. Gonzalez gave up a two run homer to Matt Adams as the Cardinals rallied for four runs in the 8th on their way to a 5-1 victory. The only Brewers run was unearned when Carlos Gomez scored on an error in the second inning. Tyler Thornberg will face Joe Kelly in the series finale as the Brewers hope to avoid the sweep Thursday night. Pre-game coverage begins at 6:40 PM on WTAQ.
