The Green Bay Phoenix mens basketball team will welcome big time programs Wisconsin and Virginia, led by former Green Bay star Tony Bennett to the Resch Center this season. The 2013-14 schedule was released on Tuesday. The Badgers will make their first trip to Green Bay since 2009, a thrilling 88-84 overtime victory for Green Bay. That game will be on Saturday, November 16. Bennett, the school's all-time leading scorer, will bring his Cavaliers to the Resch on Saturday afternoon, December 7. Bennett played for his dad, Dick Bennett at GB and followed him to Wisconsin and Washington State as an assistant coach before taking over the Cougars program and then he moved on to Virginia of the ACC three years ago. 9 of the 14 home dates this year will be against teams that played in post season tournaments a year ago. Fairfield and the University of St. Francis will appear in late December. The Phoenix will open the season at the HBCA Tip Off Championship tournament in Atlanta on November 8. They will also take part in the Great Alaska Shootout in Anchorage after Thanksgiving. The Horizon League schedule will include new conference member Oakland for the first time this year. Green Bay's new radio home for the season for both mens and womens basketball will be on 1440, WNFL.
