(WNFL) - U-W Green Bay is the pre-season favorite to win its 16th straight Horizon League women's basketball title. U-W Milwaukee was predicted to place fifth in a poll of coaches, sports information directors, and media. Green Bay only has one starter returning from a year ago -- guard Megan Lukan. She led the team in assists with almost four-and-a-half a game, while scoring just over seven points. Lukan made the All-Horizon League pre-season first team, along with Angela Rodriguez of Milwaukee. Rodriguez averaged 13 points a game a season ago. Panthers' coach Kyle Rechlicz has three starters back, and five of her six top scorers returning. Breannah Ranger of Green Bay made the all-conference second team. Coach Kevin Borseth returned to U-W-G-B last year, after five seasons in the Big Ten at Michigan. The Phoenix went 29-and-3 a year ago. They were 51-and-1 the past three seasons in conference regular season play.
