ALLOUEZ, WI (WTAQ) - The Village of Allouez heard from residents Tuesday evening about the possibility of a special deer and turkey bow hunt to thin out the population.
Neither has been declared a nuisance at this point but a hunt could come as early as 2014 but more likely in 2015.
The village has more than 300 acres of park land.
Residents had safety concerns with regard to stray arrows, some thought a hunt was a good idea; others questioned the need and enjoyed the wildlife.
Allouez along with Ashwaubenon and De Pere, who are also interested in a hunt, are working with the DNR to possibily do a winter aerial survey to get population estimates.
