APPLETON, WI (WTAQ) - A man will spend two years on probation after he attacked someone at an Appleton park.
50-year-old Thomas Pruett was convicted of substantial battery after being upset that a transgender person was using the "wrong" bathroom at Jones Park back in June.
Police say the victim's injuries included a broken eye socket bone, cuts and bruises. The victim was born a man, but now identifies as a woman.
Pruett originally also faced a disorderly conduct charge with a hate-crime penalty enhancer, but those were dropped as part of the plea deal.
