Green Bay Police stop men open carrying rifle, shotgun

GREEN BAY, WI (WTAQ) - Two men looking for a place to eat lunch in downtown Green Bay were stopped and questioned by police while walking on the street Tuesday afternoon.

One man was carrying an assault rifle and the other a shotgun over their shoulders.

Green Bay Police Captain Bill Galvin says a third man was videotaping the exchange between police and the two men.

It is legal to openly carry long guns in Wisconsin.

Galvin says the men stated they were just walking and exercising their constitutional right to carry.

One of the men packing heat was also involved in a similar incident that started with guns drawn by Appleton Police officers at the Downtown Appleton Farmer’s last month.

That incident was also videotaped and uploaded to the online video sharing site YouTube.
