GREEN BAY, WI (WTAQ) - The Green Bay man convicted of killing his girlfriend will spend the rest of his life in prison.
On Friday, a judge sentenced Michael Whitmire to life in prison with parole eligibility after 30 years.
Whitmire pled guilty to fatally stabbing Ouida Wright back in May.
Investigators say Whitmire told them he and Wright were arguing at a home on Day Street when he grabbed a knife and stabbed her. Friday in court, both Whitmire and the victim's daughter spoke.
“I'm very sorry for what happened. What I took away from your family and also my family. It is so hard to live with this day in and day out,” said Whitmire.
"No amount of time that can be sentenced here today will ever be enough to replace the mother that I've lost,” said Jessica Wright, victim’s daughter.
Court documents show he and the victim had been dating for nine months.
