To borrow the phrase from Vince Lombardi, more than 13,000 participants ran to daylight in and around Lambeau Field this weekend for the Cellcom Green Bay Marathon. There was a 5K race Saturday, the half and full marathon on Sunday. Racing his first marathon, Eliud Ngetich of New York City, a native of Kenya, captured the overall title in a title of 2:18:26. He finished 2:15 in front of Mark Kipkosgei Chepses of Mexico. Ben Orvold of Kenosha was the state's top finisher in third place. The women's overall winner was Milwaukee native Lauren Kleppin in a time of 2:47:20, nearly 13 minutes ahead of second place finisher Irina Alexandrova of Hebron, Kentucky. The half marathon winners were Benson Cheruiyot of Valparaiso, Indiana and Kellyn Johnson of Flagstaff, Arizona.
