ST PAUL, Minn (WSAU-Wheeler News) Jeffrey Trevino’s trial date has been pushed back to July 22nd.
The Saint Paul man is charged with second degree murder in the death of his wife, Wausau area native Kira Steger Trevino. Jeffrey was scheduled to go on trial in 12 days – but that was before Kira’s body was discovered eight days ago in the Mississippi River in Saint Paul. A Ramsey County judge delayed the possible trial because a full autopsy of Kira’s body will take about six weeks, and D-N-A analysis will take about a month.
On Tuesday prosecutors filed a new complaint revealing that divorce papers were found in Kira’s purse after she disappeared in late February. Prosecutors said they also found evidence that Kira was having a relationship with another man – and that Jeffrey Trevino acted suspiciously soon after reporting his wife’s disappearance to police.
