APPLETON, WI (WTAQ) - What do you get for an Appleton paper company on its 106th birthday?
If you're Appleton Papers, a name change.
Leaders say they have changed the name of the company to Appvion. It reflects the company's expansion into other fields beyond paper.
"Our company's success has been based on using applied chemistry to increase the performance of paper,” chairman, president and CEO Mark Richards said in a news release. “More recently our expertise in microencapsulation has enabled us to partner with companies like Procter & Gamble to enhance the performance and value of a growing range of consumer and industrial products."
Richards says the company will continue to produce thermal, carbonless, security and other specialty coated papers as it moves into new markets.
