Jaren Kuester due in court Friday on triple homicide charges

DARLINGTON, WI (WTAQ) - Jaren Kuester is due in a Darlington courtroom at 1 p.m. Friday, on charges that he broke into a farmhouse, killed three people, and then stole a victim’s pick-up truck.

The 31-year-old Milwaukee man is charged in Lafayette County with three counts of first-degree intentional homicide in the slayings of Gary and Chloe Thoreson, and Gary’s brother Dean on April 27th.

They were killed by a fireplace poker at the couple’s rural home near South Wayne.

Kuester’s parents from Waukesha have told reporters their son has fought anxiety attacks, delusions, and extreme paranoia for at least the past four years.

Kuester was taken to jail two days before the slayings, after he allegedly threatened humane shelter personnel in Waukesha while asking to see his dog that died two weeks earlier. His parents said Kuester should have been held for a psychiatric evaluation – but officials said they did not have enough evidence to justify it.

Kuester has been in jail for a week under a $3 million bond.
