LAFAYETTE COUNTY, WI (WTAQ) - A $3 million bond has been set for a Waukesha man suspected of killing three elderly people in southwest Wisconsin last weekend.
A bond hearing was held Thursday in Lafayette County Circuit Court for 31-year-old Jaren Kuester.
He took part in a TV hookup from his jail cell. His next court appearance was set for a week from Friday. Prosecutors expect to file charges by then.
According to media reports, Kuester was jailed late last week for threatening animal shelter employees in Waukesha, and for not paying a $303 penalty for a nine-year-old citation for resisting arrest. He was released last Friday.
Officials said his abandoned SUV was found close to where Gary, Chloe, and Dean Thoreson were found dead last Sunday morning at their home near South Wayne in the town of Wiota.
Private funerals for all three victims will be held Saturday.
