The Marquette Golden Eagles avoided a first round upset in the NCAA Tournament by rallying past Davidson 59-58 as Vander Blue made a layup with just one second to play. Marquette trailed the Wildcats 49-40 with six minutes remaining but suddenly found the range from the three point line. Blue and Jamil Wilson each hit contested three's to pull the Golden Eagles within one. Davidson the committed a costly turnover when a pass sailed out of bounds at midcourt with five seconds left. That was more than enough time for Blue to drive the left side of the lane and bank a shot off the glass just before the horn sounded. The Madison native then intercepted a desperation pass to seal the victory. Blue led Marquette with 16, Wilson added 14. The Golden Eagles (24-8) advance to face Butler in the third round on Saturday.
