Board stalls decision on Wauwatosa officer for Law Enforcement Memorial

MADISON, WI (WSAU) -  The Wauwatosa police officer murdered by her husband will not have her name on the National Law Enforcement Memorial, at least for now. The board that oversees the memorial decided Thursday to delay a decision on the acceptance of Jennifer Sebena for up to a year.

Wisconsin’s law enforcement community is disappointed with the lack of action. Attorney General J.B. Van Hollen is encouraging his partners in law enforcement to voice their dissatisfaction and continue to urge the Memorial to honor Jennifer Sebena’s sacrifice. “Law enforcement does a great job (and) puts themselves in harms way, and there are a number of different ways that they lose their lives because of it, and we need to continue to honor them regardless of what the reasons were.”

Ben Sebena is charged with shooting his wife, officer Jennifer Sebena five times in the head outside of her squad car near the Wauwatosa Fire Station this past Christmas Eve. He’s awaiting trial, held on a one million dollar bond.
