OSHKOSH, WI (WTAQ) - Police in Oshkosh are warning the public about a person posing as a security company employee.

Police say a citizen reported someone showed up at the back door of their house in the 400 block of West New York Avenue around 12:20 p.m. Wednesday.

The person said he had paperwork in reference to the home's alarm system. He asked the homeowner to open the door, but the homeowner refused. The suspicious person eventually left. Police checked the area, but could not find the suspicious person.

The person is described as a black male, at least six-feet-tall,  in his mid-30s, wearing a long tan coat and hat.

Police say if you see him in your neighborhood, do not let him into your home. Instead, call police immediately at (920) 236-5700, or call 911 if he tries to get in. Anyone with information is asked to call police at (920) 236-5700.
