OCONTO, WI (WTAQ) - The mastermind behind a multi-county burglary spree that targeted ATMs and coin operated machines inside businesses over the summer has been found guilty.
48-year-old John Birk from Green Bay was convicted in Oconto County on four felony burglary charges there.
Birk would cut a hole in the roof of buildings to gain access.
The burglaries targeted more than two dozen gas stations, restaurants, convenience and grocery stores.
The Wisconsin Department of Justice took over prosecution against Birk and his accomplices that occurred in Outagamie, Brown, and Marinette Counties.
Birk could be sentenced up to 50-years in prison and have to pay up to $100,000 in fines.
