NEW YORK (WTAQ) - Marquette’s Vander Blue scored in the final minute of overtime to tie the score, then won the game on another layup.

The Golden Eagles edged St. John’s 69-67 to take a share of the Big East title, tied with Georgetown and Louisville.

Marquette had led by 9 points with less than two minutes to go, but the Red Storm rallied to tie in regulation. The Eagles had scored the last 9 points of the first half, then the first nine points of the second half to claim what appeared to be a comfortable lead.

Phil Green led St. John’s with 20.

The victory was the 4th in a row and 6th in seven games for Marquette. They get a bye into the quarterfinals of the Big East post season tournament.

Marquette finishes the regular season with a 23-7 record, 14-4 in conference play. They were picked to finished seventh in a pre-season poll.
