The Green Bay Phoenix won a Horizon League Tournament game for the first time in head coach Brian Wardle's three year tenure by beating in-state rival Milwaukee 62-46 at the Resch Center Tuesday night. Both teams endured horrible shooting, the Phoenix made less than 34% from the floor while the Panthers were even worse at 26.5% and just five of 24 from beyond the three point line. Green Bay missed it's first nine shots from the floor but still led 27-21 at the half. A 12-2 run to start the second half but the Phoenix in control the rest of the way. Milwaukee made only one field goal in the last nine minutes of the game. Alec Brown led the way with 18 points, Kiefer Sykes added 16 and freshman Jordan Fouse scored 12 points with 11 rebounds, three blocks and three steals. The Phoenix (17-14) advance to the second round at Valparaiso Friday night against UIC. The Flames routed Cleveland State 82-59. Youngstown State also advanced with a 62-60 victory over Loyola. Milwaukee finished its season at 8-24.
